Sending VKontakte gifts for a birthday
Most often, gifts on social networks become relevant on some holidays. One of these celebrations is a birthday. Even if you are in different countries with your friend or loved one, you can pay attention to him by sending him a small gift.
To do this, just go to the page of the user whose birthday is today. You can learn about this from a special notification from the VKontakte service reminding you of the holiday. Right in his profile you will see a small window with an offer to send a gift. Select any option from those offered or click on the “Show all gifts” button to get a wider selection.
When you hover your mouse over a particular gift, you will be able to see its cost (almost all proposed options are valued at 5 votes (35 rubles), sometimes there are more expensive surprises). If your balance on the Vkontakte website is replenished, then simply select the gift you like, write your congratulations in the special field (or leave it blank), and then click on “Send”.
If there are not enough funds, then after clicking on the “Send” button, a window will open in front of you with the opportunity to select a replenishment method. So, you will have the following options:

He will receive a corresponding notification, and the gift itself will be visible in the list of received ones. If, when writing a congratulation, you did not put a tick under it, then all other users will be able to see that this gift was sent by you. But what if you want to hide your gift list? You don't have to delete them to do this, as they may be valuable memory for you. However, if you do not want other users to see them, you can use the privacy settings.
To do this, click on your avatar in the upper right corner and select the “settings” section. In the “privacy” subsection there is an item “who sees the list of my gifts”. Here you can choose the option: “only me”, thanks to which no one except you and the sender will be able to know about the gift. You can also choose in these settings so that only your friends can see the list of your gifts, or limit this list to only certain people.
How to send a gift without a special occasion?
If you don’t want to wait for a birthday, but want to please a person right now, then you have this opportunity. There are three ways to do this. The first method requires going to the user's page. Under your friend’s avatar there will be a “Write a message” button, and next to it an image of a gift. By clicking on this image, you will be redirected to a page where you can select a suitable gift.
All options will be divided into small groups (relevant, friendship, romance, etc.) for convenience. Here too, by hovering over the picture, you will see the price. After choosing the gift you like and writing a message, click on “Send”.
The further algorithm of actions is the same as I described above. Either send the gift right away, or first top up your account using the above methods.
The second method does not require you to go to your friend's page. Just open a dialogue with him, click on the paperclip icon, and then click on the “Gift” line. Next, a window will open in front of you with the opportunity to choose a suitable gift.
The third method implies that you go to the section of your gifts and click on the “Send a gift” button located at the top. Next you will be offered a list of gifts. Having chosen one of them, all you have to do is indicate the recipient. It is worth noting that you can specify more than one recipient. In this case, they will all receive the same gift, and if you write a message, then it will be the same for everyone.
As you can see, it doesn’t take much effort from you to please your loved one or just an acquaintance. Here we were talking only about paid gifts, but you can also send free ones.
How to send a gift to yourself on VK?
There is a legend on the RuNet that says you can send a gift to yourself on VK. Perhaps this was once true, but today, when entering the recipient of a gift, the sender's name is not displayed, which means you cannot send a gift to yourself.
There is, however, one simple way out of this situation. All you need is to create another page, possibly a fake one. And from there you can send gifts to your main page in the way that we described in this article.

Sending free gifts to friends
First of all, it is worth knowing that the social network Vkontakte offers to send free gifts on major holidays, such as New Year, March 8, Defender of the Fatherland Day, May 9, etc. The number of such gifts usually ranges from 1 to 10. That is, you can send one surprise to 1-10 different users or send all free gifts to one or two closest people.
By going to any user’s page and clicking on the gifts section, you will have access to a wide list of options. However, in this case, gifts that do not require financial investment from you will be displayed in first place. It will also indicate how many free gifts are available.
Again, you'll be able to write a greeting message, check the box to make the gift anonymous, and select more than one recipient. The other two ways of delivering surprises, which I described above, will also be available to you. Choose the most convenient option and delight your friends, colleagues, relatives or ordinary acquaintances.
How to give a gift in the full version
This is done very simply. You need to go to the page of the person you want to send a gift to and click on the button under the avatar (next to “Write a message”).
Now we have a window opening with a huge number of gifts that we can give. Right next to them it is written how many votes they are worth. Click on the one you want:

- You can insert a message that will be displayed along with the gift.

How to perform an operation from a mobile phone?
Above I described the procedure for sending gifts from the web version. But this function is also available from a mobile phone. It is enough to install the official application and perform the following algorithm of actions:
- Open the application and click on the "Services" button that you will see at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the Friends tab to select a recipient.
- Select the friend to whom you would like to send a gift, go to his page.
- Click on the “Gift” button, which is located closer to the center of the screen.
- Check out the list of available gifts and choose the option you like.
Next you need to perform the same steps as described above. Enter your message, move the slider if you want to show the message text and your name only to the recipient, and then click the Send button.
If there are no funds in your account, then you can top it up from your phone. This procedure will take you just a couple of minutes.
You can add multiple users to the recipients column. In general, the procedure for sending gifts from the web version and the application is not much different. The main thing is to decide what kind of gifts you want to give (paid or not), and make sure that you have the funds to pay, if required.
Sending a paid gift
For a surprise in this category you will have to pay with your own money. However, paid gifts evoke much more pleasant emotions in the recipient than free ones.

Workarounds and possible pitfalls
So is it possible to make an anonymous gift? Yes, it exists. Alternatively, you can register a new page without entering a name. To do this you will need a free mobile number.
There are a considerable number of “special programs” on the Internet that supposedly can send a gift anonymously. None of these programs will deliver what they promise. Instead, a couple of viruses will probably appear on your computer.
After registration, post your votes on the page and send anonymous gifts. You can also delete this page. Removal will not affect the gift. It will not disappear anywhere, and your page will appear as deleted.
Hiding the “gifts” section in the page privacy settings
In the mobile version, you also need to go to the page settings and select the “privacy” section. In it, find the item “who sees the list of my gifts.” Next, choose the privacy settings that suit you.
