- Find your avatar and name in the upper right corner, click;
- in the drop-down list, select “Settings”;
- In “General”, click “Change” next to the password.
Here you can come up with a new combination. It’s just that you won’t be able to save the changes without the old password – the code will be required to confirm the action.
Is it worth storing passwords using programs and browsers?
Storing such information on your computer makes your work easier. Users do not need to remember various number-letter combinations that provide access to sites and programs. But saving such information is allowed in the case when only the owner uses the computer. In other situations, attackers may obtain this information.
To avoid such consequences, it is recommended to remember the entered data or write it down in a notepad. You should also take into account that the operating system or programs may require reinstallation, due to which this information will be lost forever.
How to view your VK password on your computer
The control unit in the profile does not allow you to see the password, as well as the login. For security reasons, the data is not displayed. But if you have forgotten the combination, you can look for it inside the default browser selected for use.
The problem is that such information is stored by permission. If you are figuring out how to find out your VK password, for prevention, allow your home browser to collect such data. Google Chrome

In Mozilla Firefox
The instructions “How to view your password on VK in Mozilla” are approximately similar. To get data:
- in the upper right corner, click on the three lines;
- open “Settings”;
- In "Privacy and Security" find "Saved Logins" in "Forms".
The actions will display a list of saved credentials. All you have to do is select the ones you need and find out.
Yandex browser
In Yandex.Browser, you need three similar dashes in the upper right corner. Under them, among other items, settings are hidden. Click on the appropriate section, and then go to “Passwords”. Enter the “Contact” address in the search bar and the collected logins will be displayed.
Click on the one you need. A new window with account information will appear on the page. Next to the code field, tap on the eye icon, then a hidden combination of symbols will appear in place of the asterisks.

If you work with this tool, then with each subsequent login, the data will be automatically entered into the form (see VKontakte login). Quite convenient.
In this process, we are interested in the fact that the password and login that we need are stored in the browser. And we can watch it. Let's try to do this using the example of the 4 most popular browsers for PCs.
Firefox
Here the algorithm is as follows.
- Open the menu and select “Logins and Passwords”.
- In the form that opens, look for the site vk.com. You can use the search bar.
- Select the desired user in the list and click on the “Display passwords” button.
- In the pop-up window, confirm the operation by clicking on the “OK” button.
- In the “Password” block, the required data will be displayed.
Chrome
- Open the browser menu and go to the “Settings” section.
- In the “Autofill” block, expand the “Passwords” list.
- We find the VKontakte website, then the required login. Opposite it, click on the “Show password” icon.
Opera
- Open the browser menu in the upper left corner. Go to the “Settings” section.
- Open the full list of options by expanding the “Advanced” block.
- Find the "Autofill" section. Expand the “Passwords” menu.
- In the list, select the VK.com website and the login we need (if there are several of them). Click on the “Show password” button.
Yandex Browser
- Open the Y.Browser settings, then go to the “Passwords and cards” block.
- Find the desired VKontakte account in the list and click on it.
- In the window that appears, find the “Password” block. Here, click on the “Show password” button.
In each of the browsers considered, we can easily view the password and login for our VKontakte page. Provided that we saved it using the appropriate function.
How to find out the password from VK using the page code
You can find out your or someone else's profile code through the page code. The method is simple, but only works with data saved in the browser:
- log out of your account;
- highlight the points under which the password is hidden;
- right-click and select “View Code”;
- when the page is open, double-click on Password in the code;
- write text instead of the word and press Enter.
The required combination of symbols will appear in place of the dots in the field.
Viewing the password under asterisks in the browser (method 1)
Now let's see how to see the password instead of dots using the console (developer tools) in the browser. In this example, I will use the Google Chrome browser. In other browsers, all actions occur in a similar way.
On one of the sites, when you enter the main page, fields for entering your login (I erased the login name) and password are displayed. Dots (or asterisks) appear in the password entry field.
We need to look at and copy the password hidden by the dots. Follow these steps:
- Right-click on the password field that displays asterisks or dots. In the context menu, select “View Code”, or press the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl” + “Shift” + “I”.
- In the console window that opens, in the “Elements” tab, the code for this site element will open, in which the line related to this element will be highlighted.
- We will need to change the following code element in the open line:
type=”password”
- Double-click on the “password” value with the left mouse button.
- Instead of "password", enter the word "text" (without quotes), and then press the "Enter" key. As a result, you will get a modified code element:
type=”text”
After this, the password hidden by dots or asterisks will be displayed in the input field.
Close the console window, we won't need it anymore.
Now the open password can be copied for further use on another computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet.
After reloading the page in the browser, the password will again be hidden behind asterisks or dots.
In other browsers based on Chrome and Firefox, you can see hidden passwords in a similar way. Please note that the names of the context menu items that launch the developer tools (console) differ in different browsers.
To start viewing the element code in browsers, follow these steps:
- In Yandex Browser, after clicking on the password entry field, select the context menu item “Explore element” (Ctrl + Shift + I), then everything is done in the same way as in Chrome.
- In Mozilla Firefox, select the “Inspect Element” context menu item (Ctrl + Shift + I).
- In the Opera browser, select “View element code” (Ctrl + Shift + C) from the context menu.
- In the Internet Explorer browser, select “Check element” in the context menu.
- In the Microsoft Edge browser, you need to select the “Inspect element” context menu item, and then independently find the required piece of code. This is puzzling, since everything works correctly in Internet Explorer, as in other browsers. For some reason, this functionality is not fully developed in the new browser.

How to find out your password in VK if you forgot, but have access to the page
You won’t be able to view the key inside VKontakte – from your phone or computer. To get the combination, go to the browser menu and look for the saved data according to the instructions above. If you are unlucky and no one has given permission to collect information, log out of your account and try to get the code through the developer code. The function definitely works in Google Chrome, but in others there may be problems.
If none of the above helps, try choosing a combination by brute force. This is especially true for people who use one or two or three passwords on all sites or create a code from memorable dates and important names.

We will need any program that analyzes network packets (sniffer). You can use one of the most popular in this segment - Wireshark. It is a cross-platform tool that works on almost all operating systems, including Windows.
The program has a logical and understandable interface and works with most protocols.
We won’t talk about the program itself and its advantages now (those who are interested can easily find the necessary information on the Internet). We are now interested in the possibility of solving the problem of finding a password in VK. To do this, download Wireshark from the official website:
Installation on OS Windows is extremely simple (next->next->next).
Connect your Android to your PC via USB. Now we need to configure the program for the network that is to be analyzed and enable it to search for packets:
Then we send the form with the password from the smartphone. After receiving the packages, turn off Wireshark and look for the keyword “password” among the received data, where the login and password will be displayed.
It is important to say the following here. Working with sniffers is a topic for a separate discussion, and quite a voluminous one at that. Therefore, an untrained user should not take this method as a guide to action. Method 1: Find out the login through the settings
The only and most universal method in which you can find out all the previously mentioned data at once is the process of viewing the page settings. Of course, this applies exclusively to your personal profile after successful authorization.
When authorizing, at least a phone number or email is used, so a third of the issue can be considered resolved.
- Click on your account avatar in the upper right corner of the page.
- From the expanded site menu, select the “Settings” section.
- Switch to the General tab through the dedicated navigation menu on the right.
- To calculate the E-Mail address, find the corresponding block on the page and click on the “Change” link.
- In the “New Address” field, enter your current email address and use the “Save Address” button.
- After following the recommendations, your mail will change in accordance with your current data that you know.
- Do the same with the “Phone number” parameter block to find it out.
- If you try to use a phone number that is already linked to the page, you will receive the corresponding error. As a result, the number will also be calculated.
- You can find out your unique profile URL from the special “Page Address” block.
- Alternatively, you can click on the “Edit” link, take the numbers from the “Page Number” line and add “id” in front of them. This way you will find out the profile identifier, which can also rightfully be considered a login.
If necessary, confirm your actions by sending a code to your phone.
Regarding mail and telephone, the methods described are the only possible options.
