Hi all! VKontakte is a social network that has long become an integral part of our lives. Here we communicate, exchange news, photos, some even make new friends. Well, or they find old acquaintances, classmates, fellow students and colleagues.
Today I will tell you how to find a person on VK with a minimum of information: first name, last name, maybe an address or phone number. Ready? Then let's go.
Initially, VKontakte was created as an analogue of Facebook. That is, to connect students and classmates. The social network, which is one of the three most popular, began its history with closed registration under real data.
Finding a person by first and last name
The first way that comes to mind when you need to find a person is to use the search on the social network itself. To do this, you need to go to VK and enter a query with his data in the search bar, namely Last Name, First Name and Patronymic.
- Go to VKontakte and log in with your account;
- There is a search bar at the top of the menu. We enter into it the data of the person you need to find;
- By pressing “Enter” we will be sent to a new page;
- On the right, select the “People” block and, if necessary, click the “Show all” button;
- If the data is very popular, a list of all users with the specified last name and first name will appear. By default, people are displayed "By Popularity";
- On the right there is a filter with settings and additional information. If we remember the school where a person studied, his date of birth, address or city of residence, then we will definitely indicate it to narrow the list;
- Finally, we proceed to a banal manual check, when we go from top to bottom through the list to find the necessary person by photo, date of birth, records or mutual friends.
Sometimes a VKontakte search may display a person who has a completely different last name. Most likely, the last name has been changed, and the one indicated is in the “Maiden name” column.
This method is quite simple, but not always effective, because a person may not have his/her personal information and then it will be very difficult to find him/her. I’m generally silent about wasted time.
How to find a person on VKontakte
As you know, searching for people on VK was not provided by the developers on the VKontakte main page. It was provided for authorized users only. Therefore, you can use the search tool without registration at this address - (vk.com/search). What search results will it give you?
Using it, you can find people using the following filter parameters in the search:
- popularity parameter;
- first and last name;
- region and region;
- by school and university;
- by age and gender;
- with photographs, life positions, work and so on.
All these parameters will help us further understand the question of how to find a person on VKontakte.
The main disadvantage of this search is that if the user has made his page private or changed his name to another language, it will be difficult to find him.
How to find a person on VKontakte by first and last name
So, the very first and easiest way to search for a person on VKontakte is by first and last name. To do everything right, we act like this. Go to your VK page (if you are registered there). Next, in the search on the page, write the first and last name of the person you want to find (Screen 1).
For example, I’ll write my own.
After this, the search will show us a list of users. We select one of them with the mouse and we will immediately be redirected to the page of this user on VKontakte.
You can also use the “Friends” section. It is located on the left side of your account. Then, click the “Find Friends” button and in the search write the first and last name of the person you want to find (Screen 2)
When you have written the data, press “Enter” so that the results appear after the search.
How to find a person on VKontakte by phone number
It is possible to search for a person on VK by phone number. To do this, you can use several options:
- Through Yandex and Google browsers;
- Using the VK phone book.
Open a browser, for example, Yandex, and write in it the phone number of the person you want to find. Then, click the "Find" button. And if the user indicated his phone number on VKontakte, then you will definitely find it.
The next method is in VK itself. So, go to the “Friends” section on your page. Next, select another section – “Phone Book” (Screen 3).
After this, you will see a list of users with mobile phone numbers and even Skype numbers. It is also possible to enter the user’s phone number in the VK search and find it.
How to search for a person on VKontakte by photo
Almost every VK user has a photo. As a rule, this method does not always work if a person has set privacy settings in his account. To successfully find a particular user by photo, first upload it to your VK page. Then, go to the “News” section and then select “Photos” (Screen 4).
In the search, you need to indicate the photo address in this way (copy: photo373166879_456241094%2Falbum373166879_0). The word copy must be added to any address of the photo.
Next, press the “Enter” button on the keyboard and then the photos should appear.
How to find a person on VKontakte by id address
Now we will look at how to find a person on VKontakte by id address. This is the VK account page number. It usually looks like this - (id204857693). It can be copied and simply pasted into the address bar of your browser.
Or use this free service to quickly search for a person by ID - (vhod.ru/vkontakte/kak/naiti-stranitsu-po-id/). Go to the page indicated above, insert the ID and click the “Find” button (Screen 5).
After this, you will immediately go to the page of the user you need to find.
How to find a person on VKontakte by date of birth
Date of birth is one of the filters for searching people on VKontakte. To find it, click the “Advanced” button in the filter parameters on the right (Screen 6).
Next, you can enter in the fields: year, month, and main date of birth of the person. Subsequently, the VK search should give you user results. If the results show a different number of names, you can replace them with a different name in the filter settings.
Search for a person on VKontakte by residential address, university
In VK you can find people by their address and university. We open our VKontakte page again. Let's go to the search parameters. In the parameters where it says “Region” you need to enter the country (in which this or that person lives) and the city. For example, Moscow (Screen 7).
Then the search produces results with which we can find the person we need.
As for searching by university, everything is simple here too. Go to “Filter Options” again. Next, the “University” section will not be active (Screen 8).
To enable it, you need to set the “Region” parameters (we looked at it earlier). Then, you can select any university and find a VKontakte person using this parameter.
Search by phone number from PC and smartphone
This method includes two search options:
- We enter the phone number into the search bar in VK;
- Search by number from the contact list on your smartphone.
Since I already described the first option a little higher, I won’t dwell on it. You just need to scroll a little higher to the item “Search by First and Last Name” and enter the number you are looking for in place of your full name.
The second option only works with a mobile phone. To find a person by number from your contact list you need to:
- write down this number in your smartphone’s address book;
- go to the VKontakte application, go to the personal data tab and click on the three horizontal lines at the top right;
- go to “Settings”;
- open the “Account” tab;
- Scroll down and click “Synchronize contacts”;
- select “All friends”;
- go to the “Friends” tab and click “Add friend”;
- In the “Import” line, select “Contacts”.
Afterwards, you need to confirm sending the numbers to the VKontakte servers and if the person whose number was entered has a page registered to him, then the application will offer to add this person as a friend.
If pages on this number have not been registered, you will be asked to send him an invitation.
The method that was relevant when searching for a person through page restoration no longer works, so the above method is the only one today.
How to find a person's photo by his phone number
Sometimes there is a need to find a person in a contact by phone number, for example, you are buying something on Avito and want to find out who called, what this person looks like and whether he is a scammer. Such curiosity is completely justified and there is a life hack on how to get a photo and profile of a caller on a social network via phone.
Thus, when filling out information about themselves on VKontakte, many indicate their mobile number. But the page may be hidden by privacy settings, so by entering only numbers into the VKontakte search, you cannot see the link to the profile.
Try typing the number into a search engine and see what links it returns. And then find links among them on VKontakte.
How can I find out if there is a registered VKontakte page for this phone? There is another, rather interesting method of search through Retargeting. This tool for running advertising campaigns is located here: vk.com/ads?act=retargeting#
- Create a text file with the subscriber number. The cell phone number must be written without spaces, parentheses and begin with the country code.
- We save the text in CSV or TXT format.
- Go to the advertiser's account and check Create audience.
- Enter any name and go to the “Load from file” column.
- Upload a text file from your computer and click “Create”.
- When the import is completed, one will appear in the Reach column, which means that such a number is linked to the VKontakte page.
This technique is available only to owners of communities that have an advertising section on VKontakte.
Finding a person from a photo
What to do if nothing is found by the number, the ID has not been saved, and other people are being identified based on the entered last name and first name? You are lucky if a photograph of this person survives. And, of course, it was published on his page.
- The first option is to search through the “Image Search” service. We upload a photo to Yandex or Google and if it is saved “in the memory” of the search engine, then we will be given all the places where the image flashed.
This method is not very accurate, but effective. If the photo is stored on a page on a social network and at the same time it is open to unauthorized users, then everything can work out. You can read more in my article on how to check the uniqueness of images and photographs.
- The second option is through special services. One of the most popular is findclone.ru. The service uses special technology that helps find people with similar facial features.
The advantage of the service is that it works. So in 2 minutes and 3 photos, all VK pages were displayed, as well as the pages of friends on which photos of me were posted.
The method works, but it reveals not only a specific user, but also similar people. In my case, it even returned a page that was abandoned a couple of years ago, and the mail from it was lost.
What are ip and id?
If you are not new to the basic theory of social networks, then just scroll through the page to the desired section. But we think that for most readers it will be useful to know the basic principles on which the answers to the main question of the article are based.
So, you've probably often heard terms like ip and id. What is it? Let's start with the IP. This short abbreviation hides the term Internet Protocol, or Internet Protocol. We will not use a complex definition, we will simply explain that ip is a unique address of a node on the Internet, thanks to which nodes communicate with each other with the ability to transmit data. Naturally, the knots are not sea knots. This term simply refers to devices that have access to the network, that is, computers, smartphones, tablets, smart watches, etc.
Knowing the IP address, you can get important information about the device from which you accessed the network. In particular, the country and city, provider, device OS, and browser used are determined. Of course, this is all purely technical data that concerns more the computer than the user. However, in some cases, it is knowledge of the IP address that allows you to resolve serious situations.
Let's move on to the second term - id. This abbreviation is familiar to every person registered on social networks. ID refers to an identification number that is assigned to each user. Here there is already a connection not to the device, but directly to the person. More precisely to his account, because... one person can make several profiles, each of which will have its own individual number.
In general, id is something like ip, but within the framework of specific services. A person’s VKontakte ID, for example, is given upon registration and remains unchanged throughout the entire time they work on the social network. By the way, the situation with IP is different: it tends to change, with the exception of static addresses. But that's a completely different story.
Through mutual friends
We can find a person if we have mutual acquaintances. In order to find a person through mutual friends you need to:
- Go to the page of the person who may have the person you are looking for as a friend;
- Go to the “Friends” block on his page;
- We look through the list of friends and search among them;
Friends may be hidden, so it is quite possible that you will not be able to find a person using this method. But I think it's worth a try.
Another option is to search through Possible Friends. This block, after analyzing certain data, produces a list of all kinds of friends. To get into this block you need to:
- Go to the friends block;
- On the right there will be a “Possible Friends” block;
- Click “Show all”;
All that remains is to study this list and try to find the person you are looking for there.
Using search engines
In the Yandex search service you can search not only for answers to questions, but also for people. The search takes place simultaneously on eleven social networks, including VKontakte. However, it is not necessary to search in all of them at once - the search tools will allow you to limit it only to VKontakte.
In order to find someone in Yandex, you need to go to the “People” tab, enter the full name of the person you want to find, and, if possible, information about his age, place of residence, and others. The service will select the most suitable profiles based on the specified parameters and show them to the user.
Using the combination “site:vk.com last name and first name” you can use the Google search engine to find a person. The “site” part indicates to the search engine that the search should occur within the same site, the name of which is written after the colon.
Setting up Google search on one site
If a user hides his page with privacy settings, it will not be possible to find him through a Yandex or Google search.
How to find out your id?
To view your short page address, sometimes you just need to look at the address bar of your browser. This is relevant if it does not matter whether it has changed or remained in its original form.
If you need to find out the original address that was automatically assigned by the registration peer (it is relevant regardless of how and how many times it was changed), then you can view it in the settings. Where to look for it?
- At the very top of the page on the right side there is an icon with a profile photo and an arrow - this is the action menu and you need to select it. When clicked, a list appears in which we click on “Settings”.
- When the menu opens, you will see the “Page Address” item at the bottom. You need to click on it and then the real number will open for viewing.
Attention! After changing the number to a letter value in the link to your personal profile, you can restore the original code, since it does not change. By changing the ID to a letter one, only its appearance will be changed - the letter value will become an anchor for a digital unique code. Therefore, the VKontakte ID remains unchanged no matter what.
